“There is nothing in us worth saving, but God’s love in us now makes us of infinite value to Him.”

January 5, 2020

The gospel of Jesus Christ has been described in many ways through time and history. It has been described as the love of God, the grace of God, the justice of God, the glory of God and even the power of God unto salvation by Paul. As one may see, the gospel is huge! However, the gospel is also so deep and so wide that it not only affects our daily lives in the here and now, but also restores the relationship with God the father eternally. The gospel presentation that we will be looking at is from Romans chapter 3. Paul first demonstrates that we cannot be perfect like Jesus and that we deserve to be eternally separated from God. However, in His great love for humanity, God does the unthinkable. He desires so deeply to be with us that He had Jesus pay with His own life for our sins. We will see how the cross so beautifully demonstrates how God executes justice, but is also the justifier of those who believe.

Application Questions

  1. What is the gospel? Would you be able to explain it to someone?
  2. Do you recognize that there is nothing in you worth saving? How does this deepen the gospel message?
  3. How do you see the love of God for you at the cross?
  4. How do you know if you believe the gospel?
  5. Are there ways that you are trying to earn God’s love other than through the gospel?
