“Jesus comes home as the King, and he comes home gentle.”

March 25, 2018

The story of Palm Sunday shows us Jesus entering Jerusalem the week before his crucifixion. Jesus arranges his arrival at Jerusalem with a purpose: to show everyone, then and now, who He is. We see Jesus come like a king to his capital city, but not like any king: he comes humble, to bring salvation to his people. When you see this confounding combination of power and humility, you’ll be drawn to him and find yourself being remade in his image.

Application Questions

  1. Do you think of Jesus as a King ruling over your life? Why or why not? If he took control of your life today, what would he change?
  2. Do you think of Jesus as a gentle King, who uses his power to give you what you really need? How might that help you work through the challenges you face in life?
  3. When we follow Jesus as our gentle King, we begin to look like him. How would your life at home, at work, and elsewhere look different if you were more like Jesus in this way?
