“The local church is the place you are equipped with the tools you need for the life God has for you.”

September 9, 2018

Living the Christian life requires tools and training. That’s what Paul tells us when he says the local church is the place where the saints are equipped for the work of ministry: pastors equip people with the tools they need to thrive as Christians as they walk through life in the world. Without these tools, we find ourselves ill-equipped to deal with the various situations that come up in our lives. But Jesus has designed us to be trained in all the different ways the gospel changes our life. At Cornerstone, we want to always be equipping the saints for the work of ministry.

Application Questions

  1. Do you ever feel like you could use more tools for living the Christian life? What are some areas in your life in which you think you could use some equipping?
  2. Do you look at the church as a place where you get equipped? Do you understand your Christian life as something that requires equipping to function properly?
  3. How does the gospel motivate you to be more equipped to live the Christian life of following Jesus? How can you actively seek out that kind of equipping in your life now?
