“Harvest Festival is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones at a church community we love.”

Harvest Festival is a yearly event at Cornerstone, and one of my family’s favorites. There’s something about dressing up in fun costumes, playing games for candy, and eating food that is universally appealing. Oh, and did I mention there are bounce houses? But these aren’t the main reason to make time for Harvest Festival this year. Below are three bigger and better reasons for you to come by the Harvest Festival and enjoy:

  1. We Get To Be All Together. Cornerstone isn’t a huge church, but it isn’t tiny. With three services, we rarely get to all be in the same place at the same time. This means you probably have friends—or people who could become friends—that you don’t get to interact with on a regular basis. The Harvest Festival is a giant event that allows for all of us to be in the same place at the same time, enjoying each other’s company. Why miss the chance to be all together? Harvest Festival is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones at a church community we love.
  2. We Get To Meet Our Neighbors. At Cornerstone, we have visitors in our Sunday services and at community groups throughout the week. But we rarely get to open our doors to neighbors as widely as we do at the Harvest Festival. Each year, our immediate neighbors and people from all over West LA come to the harvest festival to enjoy the games, food, and candy. What better way to show our neighbors the love of Christ than by welcoming them into our church building and serving them with a smile, a warm conversation, and some good candy?
  3. We Get To Celebrate, All Together, With Our Neighbors. When you read the Bible cover to cover, it can be surprising to see how often God commands his people to celebrate. There are feasts, festivals, breaking bread together—all ways God’s people are meant to enjoy themselves to the glory of God. When you have a God this good, you celebrate! The Harvest Festival is one of the few chances we have to get the whole church together, open our doors to our neighbors, and celebrate to the glory of God. The games we play, the kids jumping in the bounce houses, and the delicious food from food trucks across LA are all ways we honor God.

So make time to come to the Harvest Festival this year. If you can, volunteer to run one of the games or another station. And when you come, remember to enjoy each other, our neighbors, and the goodness of God!
