Cornerstone exists because of Jesus. We are a people who have been transformed by the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God has forgiven us and adopted us into his family. Now, we have a whole new life.
Through the gospel, God redeems us, forgives us, and adopts us into his family. The good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection makes each one of us a new creation and gives us a new identity: children of God. This is why we can never think of the church as an organization or a building. The church is actually a family—God’s family, filled with redeemed sinners that are now his children.
Through the gospel, God forgives us, adopts us into his family, and makes us his disciples. This means that the church is not just any family. We are a family formed by God—and sent out with a purpose.
The church is a family that ministers to one another, cares for one another, and builds one another up. Each member of the family is a child of God who is uniquely gifted to bless the family and to be a light in our city.
Just like a vine grows best with a good trellis, our church family grows best with good programs. Our programs and ministries are tailored to support the community and mission God has given us.
Are you looking for a Spring Break getaway that promises something for the whole family? How about something to get the kids off their devices and out into the great outdoors? Maybe a time together that will help all members to grow in their understanding of and passion for God? Then do we have an event for you! Cornerstone’s Youth Camp 2019 is just around the corner, March 22-24th at Ironwood Christian Camp, an Old West-themed camp set in the beautiful high desert just outside Barstow, California.
The retreat is geared for families with kids, K through 12th grade, and Camp Ironwood offers a bonanza of activities for the whole crew! Hiking, archery, a BB gun range, zip lines, and a well-stocked game room are just a few of the activities you can explore together. But who among your family will be brave enough to try Doc’s Wonderwheel? As an important pro tip, that activity is NOT recommended immediately after lunch.
But fun and games are not the only things on the menu at Ironwood. As a church family, our ultimate goal with this wonderful event is obviously to draw the whole family closer to God and to strengthen their walk. Families will have time together to hear gospel-themed messages, and Middle School and High School students will also have their own time of worship and teaching apart from the younger kids, so they can dive even deeper into God’s word in a format that meets them where they’re at.
The cost of camp is $160 per family member, with a $600 cap just to make sure this amazing experience won’t break the family budget. Keep in mind that scholarships are also available, so finances don’t have to be a barrier to you enjoying this exciting event. Parents are highly encouraged to come to camp, since our hope is that the family would be the primary source of discipleship, the teaching at Ironwood will create a springboard to further conversations and enrich studies once we have all returned home. But keep in mind that if a parent can’t go, we still want your students to join in as we don’t want anyone to miss out on all the fun and growth that we’re sure to see at Ironwood. Our prayer is that this time would be used by God to build our faith and transform our hearts where God’s word will be planted and grow much fruit for His eternal glory.
If you have any questions concerning the camp, please feel free to contact Jeremy Neiditch. We look forward to seeing you there!
