“Your roles and responsibilities aren’t an accident. You are called by God.”

May 6, 2018

The sixth category of the discipleship pathway is Calling, a word that is quickly misunderstood. The Bible shows us that God gives each of us not one special goal to accomplish in life, but multiple roles and responsibilities we can use to love our neighbor as ourselves. By looking through Scripture, we see that callings have always been a part of the life of God’s people, and we learn how we can think of our own callings as ways to love others.

Application Questions

  1. After hearing the story of God calling people throughout history, what stands out to you the most?
  2. How is the biblical understanding of calling different from the other ways people understand calling?
  3. What callings do you have in your life now? How are they a way of loving your neighbor as yourself?
  4. What would change about your roles and responsibilities if you saw them as callings from God?
