Cornerstone exists because of Jesus. We are a people who have been transformed by the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God has forgiven us and adopted us into his family. Now, we have a whole new life.
Through the gospel, God redeems us, forgives us, and adopts us into his family. The good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection makes each one of us a new creation and gives us a new identity: children of God. This is why we can never think of the church as an organization or a building. The church is actually a family—God’s family, filled with redeemed sinners that are now his children.
Through the gospel, God forgives us, adopts us into his family, and makes us his disciples. This means that the church is not just any family. We are a family formed by God—and sent out with a purpose.
The church is a family that ministers to one another, cares for one another, and builds one another up. Each member of the family is a child of God who is uniquely gifted to bless the family and to be a light in our city.
Just like a vine grows best with a good trellis, our church family grows best with good programs. Our programs and ministries are tailored to support the community and mission God has given us.
"MOPS meets mothers in a unique season of life to give support and friendship"
Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is a grassroots movement that believes moms are world influencers. As an international organization in over 35 countries, MOPS is committed to making better moms to make a better world. MOPS is where mothers of children, from birth to Kindergarten and those who are pregnant or preparing to foster or adopt, can find resources and support in the context of friendship and community.
MOPS meets every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Friday morning of the school year at Cornerstone. Moms can drop off their children in the childcare rooms starting at 9:30, giving them plenty of time to connect with the childcare workers and get to the meeting room at 9:45 when the program begins. Each meeting begins with a brunch buffet and devotional and is followed by some prompted journaling and a brief table discussion. The program continues with a guest speaker, craft, service project, or heart-to-heart discussion, which ends by 11:45, giving everyone enough time to pick up children by 12:00. Monthly Mom’s Night Out events and Park Meet-Ups are announced at each meeting and email reminders are sent to those on the MOPS West LA mailing list.
The first MOPS meeting is always free! When you join the West LA MOPS group, you will be registered with MOPS International ($25 annual registration fee) and will receive a subscription to “Hello, Darling” Magazine, a registration packet filled with fun goodies and access to their online discounts and resources. By paying the full year's dues, you will receive the discounted price of $135 for all 17 meetings (including childcare) and special events! If you prefer to pay by semester, in addition to the MOPS International annual registration fee of $25, fall dues are $70 and spring dues are $100. To register, simply attend a meeting, fill out the registration form and make your check payable to Cornerstone West LA. If dues are a difficulty, please contact Carolina Ortiz, MOPS West LA Coordinator to learn more about full and partial scholarships at firstname.lastname@example.org
