Cornerstone exists because of Jesus. We are a people who have been transformed by the gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, God has forgiven us and adopted us into his family. Now, we have a whole new life.
Through the gospel, God redeems us, forgives us, and adopts us into his family. The good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection makes each one of us a new creation and gives us a new identity: children of God. This is why we can never think of the church as an organization or a building. The church is actually a family—God’s family, filled with redeemed sinners that are now his children.
Through the gospel, God forgives us, adopts us into his family, and makes us his disciples. This means that the church is not just any family. We are a family formed by God—and sent out with a purpose.
The church is a family that ministers to one another, cares for one another, and builds one another up. Each member of the family is a child of God who is uniquely gifted to bless the family and to be a light in our city.
Just like a vine grows best with a good trellis, our church family grows best with good programs. Our programs and ministries are tailored to support the community and mission God has given us.
“[Christ] gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ... Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” Ephesians 4:11–12, 15–16
Paul explains why God gives each church pastors: they equip each and every family member for their own unique ministry. When this ministry grows, so does the church family—both in size and spiritual maturity.
The pastors at Cornerstone take their responsibility to equip very seriously. They have dedicated themselves to studying and developing various ways to equip each person. We pursue this equipping in community, in classes, in conferences, and in internships.
A lot of equipping happens in the midst of our personal relationships. As we live in community with one another, we are always equipping each other to love Jesus and minister well.
More formally, we equip every member for life in the church in our Membership Class. This class serves as both an introduction to the church and an opportunity to understand how the church family fits together.

For more specific equipping, we offer various Equipping Classes on Sunday nights. Each class is designed to equip our members with the skills and insight they need to minister to others with God’s power.

We also host conferences on different topics that are timely, relevant, and important. Conferences are usually a half- day long and are held occasionally throughout the year. Past topics include: Parenting, Singleness, Work and the Gospel, and Marriage.

For those who would like more intensive equipping for a specific kind of ministry, we have internships. These are designed as 2-3 year, non-paid, intentional times of training. We currently have two internships available: a pastoral internship and a counseling internship.

Books allow you to be equipped by authors who have blessed the universal church. We have a number of books available in our resource center that can help equip you for ministry. We encourage you to check out the selection on a Sunday morning and dive into some rich biblical truths from some of the Church’s best authors.
